Perlita - Plagron
Perlite is a light, inert and stable substrate that we use in our growing medium to improve drainage capacity as well as water retention and soil sponginess, in addition, it also stimulates root growth. The size of the grains is 3 to 4 mm, and the recommended amount to mix with our substrate is between 10% and 30%.

Pearlite is an amorphous volcanic glass that has a relatively high water content. It is a mineral that occurs in nature, and has the uncommon property of expanding greatly when heated sufficiently.
Expanded perlite is a mineral product that has been subjected to an expansion process at 1200 ºC, it is inert, stable, neutral (pH between 6.5 and 7), sterile, light and insulating.
Its qualities at an agronomic level are:
- Great capacity to receive and retain water and fertilizers.
- Facilitates aeration.
- Sponge the soil.
- It does a good job of draining.
- Stimulates initial rooting and vigorous plant growth.
Perlite can be used for mixing with other substrates or for use in recirculated hydroponics and lost solution hydroponics.
